Today, we sorted out various images into the season we thought it best fit. Some images were quite obvious but some, not so much. We had to look at clues in the images and discussed what we observed in the picture to figure out where exactly we thought it belonged. The pictures varied, from images of clothing, activities, celebrations, to food, plants and insects. There are lots of pictures left to sort which we will get to over the next week. Each student also got 4 blank squares to draw a picture representative of each season to add to our collection!

Some pretty imaginative play was happening here! A school called l'école de coup where I was named étoile and had to go on a time out because I wasn't cutting my plasticine very well...tough teacher. There were cookies being baked at school and we had to be very careful not to burn ourselves on the purple oven rack. A collection of models being made on the side and lots of laughs!
On Monday, we explored the options that we could potentially serve to Mr. 6 (see previous blog post for context ;)) To ensure our options would be satisfactory for Mr 6, we wrote out the equations on the board! Rest assured, he is a happy guy!
Last week, we went down to our cubbies to collect some data on all the winter clothing items we had at school. Each student took a turn to go to their cubby and answer yes or no to whether they had the various items on our list. Today, we looked at all the data and graphed it! We also learned how to read this type of graph quickly and efficiently without having to count every coloured box in the row. Each student took a turn filling in one of the bars on the graph and then we reread all the data together! Last week, we read the letter E story from our French alphabet book. We practiced forming upper and lower case e's on the table with chalk and then made letter e's using Wikki Stix. The letter E story from Raconte moi l'alphabet is about a little boy that has a terrible memory. When his teacher asks him a question, he has trouble remembering the answer and so puts his hands on his cheeks and goes 'eeeeeee'. Ask your child about the little boy with a bad memory and get them to recount the story to you!
Since some of our students were curious about the human brain, we decided to link that to the five senses. We talked about and looked at where the brain processes the different senses and how our senses send messages to our brain and our brain receives, interprets and responds to those messages. The students were really engaged and interested in this topic, we just may delve a little deeper!
