In our French sounds book, Raconte moi l'alphabet, la souris acrobate is the story about the letter i. Today we made our own souris acrobate puppets! Now we can play with our puppets all while reinforcing the sound in French.

I have come to know what many of these student's interests are by the books they choose! Everyone loves our library period, especially getting to choose any book they want!
Just before going down for lunch today, we played two rounds of alphabet bingo but not just regular alphabet bingo, alphabet sound bingo! Each time a letter came up that we have already done in our Raconte-moi l'alphabet book, we recalled the silly story that went along with it. I have noticed that the letter-story combination that has really stuck in all our minds is the story of B, le petit garçon qui a beaucoup mangé. Ask your child about it and ask them about our other friends that we meet in le village des sons!
Presenting our newly revamped word wall! The students are the ones who came up with the words and the only condition was that they relate to our unit of inquiry. The wall gets added to as the unit develops and below, students can practice writing the words and/or arranging the alphabet magnets to make the words on the wall. This activity helps develop French vocabulary and also helps the students make links to our unit, this one being community.
Our unit of inquiry extends to every class we take part in. This was done with Miss Andrea in English class. Click the link to find a brief description.
http://andreashoup.weebly.com/kindergarten/inquiry-into-communities After a busy day, we took some time to reflect, draw and write in our journals. The students were asked to draw anything they thought to be significant about their week so far. Everyone had something unique to draw but most importantly, it was something that was important to them. Some friends also practiced their writing by copying the date as well as the sentence that described their illustration.
All the kids are very much enjoying all the music that is part of their daily lives at school, including the classical music they listen to in Mme Marta's violin class. We decided to work while listening to, what the students call, the lion song. Find it under the music tab along with some other class favourites :) |
Welcome to the daily life of Académie de la Capitale's Junior / Senior Kindergarten class! We hope you enjoy this window into our classroom as much as we enjoy sharing it!Archives
