Last week, the students collected some pinecones outside that they were hoping to paint. This quiet afternoon provided a great opportunity to do just that. There are many more pinecones for anyone that was absent ;) The kids picked paint colours and put poured the paint into those little jars and then shook as hard as they could to get the pinecones all covered up. They look lovely! We'll decorate the class once we get some more of the pinecones painted.

Over the past few weeks, students have been working on using descriptive vocabulary to describe themselves. Every few days, we would sit by our hanging silhouettes of the upper half of our body and share things about ourselves and our peers. I wrote them down and today, we painted our silhouettes. Now, we will go over all the things we shared about ourselves and our peers and write them around the painted silhouettes. Our painting choices were meant to be realistic, or how we saw ourselves, so with a paint palette of multiple colours and a mirror to look at ourselves, we painted away!
This activity took a few days to finish. We started by making the black circles using paint and a plastic cup. The next day, the circles were dry and ready for more painting. We only used the three primary colours to create all the colours you see in the pictures. We will put up our canvases in the class, come check them out during pick up or drop off time!
Yesterday afternoon, the kids had the task of helping paint the white picket fence that the school will be using for multiple purposes. The first being this weekends Baby Show! AcadeKidz, Acadecap's daycare, will have a booth at the Baby Show...that I will be running for part of the weekend along with other teachers/educators and Academie de la Capitale's fabulous marketing expert ;)
So enough with that, lets get to the fun part...the painting! The kids each got one panel to paint in which ever creative way they wished. The results were fantastic! I think you all should have your kids paint your fences at home ;p But seriously, a HUGE thank you too all the wonderful kids that helped out. Their magic paint touch made this plain white fence beautiful! Painting by Slidely Slideshow |
