More on our little French word book, the words that have been added are in no particular order, nor are they chosen by me. When we take out our French word books, I ask the students what new French words they learned at school, and this is how we choose. Naturally, the words are related to our unit! They either trace or copy the word depending on their individual printing skills and then draw a picture to represent the word.

On Monday, we started our French word books, like a picture dictionary as I explained it to the kids! They copy the word and draw a picture to represent the word. The first word in our book is ami!
This morning, we decided to cut our circle time short and make these great little puppets showing different feelings. We were inspired as feelings and emotions came up in a discussion during circle time and I thought, why not reinforce some French language skills to something the students were clearly very interested in. We will make more as some of the students were absent and we'll use these at circle time to continue reinforcing French vocab!
Today we practiced recognizing the letter and sound on the cards seen on the table. We made fresh play-dough in the morning, so we used that to make the letters as well as our names. On the chalkboards, we practiced writing the letters. Everyone is getting so good at writing letters and knowing the French sounds!
Yesterday, the students made these lovely little flowers to display some of the site words they have been working on, in English, with Mme Katie. Well done!
Last week, we reviewed the letter sounds we have learned since the start of the year, and then read a new story about the letter 'm'. The story is about the chef of the town that makes delicious food, especially chocolate cake. When anyone tastes her food, they always say, "Mmmmm, c'est bon!". If you ask your child about the story, they will surely be able to recall and retell you the story themselves! Afterwards, we searched for letters in our letter box to make our alphabet mountain that you see below.
