Guess what arrived today?! Yes, the caterpillars! We opened up the packages, read the instructions and are now on our way to caring for these little creatures and watching the life cycle before our very own eyes! So exciting! Ask your child about what we have to do to care for our caterpillars in order for them to grow and stay healthy.

This morning, we decided to cut our circle time short and make these great little puppets showing different feelings. We were inspired as feelings and emotions came up in a discussion during circle time and I thought, why not reinforce some French language skills to something the students were clearly very interested in. We will make more as some of the students were absent and we'll use these at circle time to continue reinforcing French vocab!
Mme Katie and the JK students have been talking about poems during the past few English classes. Below are poems written by the kids themselves! Lions
Furry lions, yellow lion, spikey claw lions. They have 10 claws. Soft lion. I like nice lions. By DH Snake Long snake, red snake. It slithers across the ground. Somewhat itchy snake. I don’t like snakes. By BH Blueberries Sweet blueberries, blue blueberries. You eat them and they are fruit. Yummy blueberry. Celeste and me love them. By KB Bear Big bear, Brown bear. Bears are a sumo. Furry bears. Bears are mean. By CDS Giraffe Long giraffe, tall giraffe. Whenever it’s sunny they never get a sunburn because their tongues are black. Spotted giraffe. Giraffes are my favourite colour. By SK Today, we learned all about fractions! We talked about how we see fractions all around us. Even if we had not noticed before, they were there! Then, we completed a little booklet, filling in the circle according to the fraction that was written on the page. Once we were done, we explored the coloured fraction circles. At snack time, fractions came up as we were eating cut pieces of apples, making our morning lesson that much more relevant!
This is a very popular song that Mme Katie sings with the JK in some of her English classes!
Last week, our STEM class started with a student sharing his 3D printed projects he worked on over the March break. We have been learning about what a 3D printer is and isn't and even helped make a 3D minion with our in house 3D printing specialist, Jed! The projects made at home by this little friend were fantastic and inspirational! Thank you for sharing A.C.!
