Yesterday, each class took their turn to shuck the corn for our Corn Roast yesterday evening. It's hard but satisfying work! Thank you for being such great helpers, Erick (or chef friend), sure is grateful!

I can now say that our first day of school was a smooth, successful and fun day! Our small little group had no troubles following the routine and getting back into the swing of things, which I'm very pleased about!
We started off the day with our usual circle time; introducing the students to the calendar, checking the weather, singing songs, reading a book and talking about our commitment to learning French. We, then, took a walk around the class introducing each center and talking the rules and the number of students allowed at a time. Over the course of the week, discuss, review and add to the rules we should follow in any given class and in the various parts of the school. We will then add them to our essential agreement and sign our name to represent our promise to following the rules and codes of conduct. A few more routines to go through over the course of the week and we'll be set for success! We have our classroom responsibilities to go over and more specialist teachers to be introduced to. Click here to view a few pictures from our first day! This morning, the kindergarten and preschool kids spent some time shucking corn for this evening's corn roast. Thank you for all the help, they really worked out their little muscles!
Here, students are displaying their 'Mes amis' pictures done on the first day of school. Having them put up their own work made them feel proud of what they did. It also made it more meaningful as they were part of the displaying process in their classroom.
This week, we took some time to label areas/centers in our classroom. Students started to familiarize themselves with the French terminology and also, where everything was in the class. They definitely enjoyed using the sticky tack, simple pleasures in kindergarten ;)
