Once dried, each student shared what they thought the paintings looked like or reminded them of. We talked about how we all have a different perspective and how we all see things differently.
We made these lovely abstract paintings using marbles and a pizza box. A few drops of paint on their paper, two marbles, then shutting the pizza box and shaking at all around is how these masterpieces were created. Once dried, each student shared what they thought the paintings looked like or reminded them of. We talked about how we all have a different perspective and how we all see things differently.

We have been working really hard making paper mâché suns, earths and moons. We are now at the painting stage of our project and will soon get to use our models of the earth, sun and moon to demonstrate how we have day and night and seasons! We can't wait for this step!
In keeping with the theme about living things, we decided to make large green leaf collages to decorate the class. Cutting all the different green materials was a lot of work, according to some of the kids! Working on fine motor skills and making beautiful and unique art was how we spent part of our morning today!
Last week, we had a blast at the National Art Gallery. We learned about some of the art featured at the gallery, about primary, secondary colours and shades. Did you know that pink is not a colour, but a shade?! Later, we made our own art that was meant to be inspired by a massive picture of bead work displayed in the gallery. After lunch, we got to explore a little more freely before it was time to get on the bus and return to school. We had a great morning!
Last week, the students collected some pinecones outside that they were hoping to paint. This quiet afternoon provided a great opportunity to do just that. There are many more pinecones for anyone that was absent ;) The kids picked paint colours and put poured the paint into those little jars and then shook as hard as they could to get the pinecones all covered up. They look lovely! We'll decorate the class once we get some more of the pinecones painted.
Last week, we discovered that mixing the primary colours results in so much magic! We also listened to the song below this video, all about the 3 primary colours. |
