Guess what arrived today?! Yes, the caterpillars! We opened up the packages, read the instructions and are now on our way to caring for these little creatures and watching the life cycle before our very own eyes! So exciting! Ask your child about what we have to do to care for our caterpillars in order for them to grow and stay healthy.

In English class, Mme Katie has started us off by coming up with a few questions that will lead our inquiry, well, the students came up with these questions with a little guidance on Mme Katie's part. We are still working on learning the difference between a question and a comment. The question the students came up with a great! I'm excited to delve more into what they have shown curiosity about!
We have been talking about the cycle of the seasons and learning to name the seasons in French and in the correct order. The kids coloured in the pages of the book and finished the sentence on the last page, their favourite season. Once they finished their books, we read it together. They were really excited about their little books, and rightfully so! Ask your child to tell you their favourite season, in French! And to name you the rest in French as well.
The JK kids have been talking about the life cycle of a butterfly. Here, they coloured, cut, ordered and pasted the stages on their crowns. They also learned the corresponding vocabulary in French. I told them that they may take them home once they can tell me all the words in French, they all passed!
Our inquiry into cycles led us to learn about the water cycle. Below is step one of this exploration where students helped cut out the different parts of the cycle and put them in the correct order. We briefly talked about evaporation, condensation and precipitation. Next week, we will explore this further by doing a few science experiments that will help us better understand each stage of the cycle. All the scraps of paper we ended up with after cutting out the pictures did not go to waste! We made paper with our scrap paper! Check out the next post for pics :)
