An activity to find out where the students are at with letter recognition and fine motor/cutting skills. Lots more of these to come! The students were tasked with cutting out the letters and then sorting them out. They were SO focused!

Yesterday, Mme Katie said she had a fantastic class with the JK kids, which I love to hear when they get back to me! They were working on alphabet sounds and unit related site words. Below are some of the sentences they made together.
Last week, we reviewed the letter sounds we have learned since the start of the year, and then read a new story about the letter 'm'. The story is about the chef of the town that makes delicious food, especially chocolate cake. When anyone tastes her food, they always say, "Mmmmm, c'est bon!". If you ask your child about the story, they will surely be able to recall and retell you the story themselves! Afterwards, we searched for letters in our letter box to make our alphabet mountain that you see below.
This morning, after reviewing the letter names and sound of the letters we have studied so far, we went on a hunt for letters around the class. With a clipboard and pencil in hand, they wrote down the letters they found. Once they were done, they sat down with me to tell me the name and sound of all the letters they found!
Students are working hard, learning the sound and name of these letters in French. After we read a story from Raconte moi l'alphabet, we do all sorts of fun activities to reinforce our learning. Here, the students had fun making letters out of playdough they made with Miss Crystal, and finding the correct letters in the sticker packs to paste on our big letter poster.
The ABC cards pictured below are images from our book Raconte moi l'alphabet. We played a game the other day, where I called out a letter and the students had to find the match. They are very familiar with the story from the book, which helps them recall the sound of the letter, in French!
