Since we are talking about our efforts in caring for our environment, it would be good for us to really know where the things we use on a daily basis end up. So, we will start with our snacks. We grabbed all of our snack bags and brought them up to class for a classifying and graphing activity. We classified things in three categories; garbage, recycling and compost. Towards the end, the kids started cheering when compost or recycling was 'beating' the garbage! That told me that they realized which one should have the highest bar! In the end, we had lots of garbage but an equal amount of things that could go in the compost...they decided that that was good ;)
