Last week, we read the C story from Raconte-moi l'alphabet. It is about a little boy named C that goes camping with his friends in the forest. They have to collect sticks to make a fire and find a weird looking branch in the shape of the letter C. In order to find it out if it truly was a piece of wood, they snapped it in half to hear the sound it would make. It was indeed a stick, it made a C sound! We went on a stick hunt ourselves later on and with all the sticks we collected, we snapped them in pieces to see if they also made that sound. We then made our own funny C branch with all the pieces of sticks we had! |

This morning, we played a game of bingo to review all the letters and sounds we have learned from Raconte-moi l'alphabet. Everyone did a great job recalling the stories! Bingo is also always super fun and exciting!
The SK students had some work to finish up and while they worked on their activities from Raconte-moi l'alphabet the JK students explored letter using a sensory approach.
Just before going down for lunch today, we played two rounds of alphabet bingo but not just regular alphabet bingo, alphabet sound bingo! Each time a letter came up that we have already done in our Raconte-moi l'alphabet book, we recalled the silly story that went along with it. I have noticed that the letter-story combination that has really stuck in all our minds is the story of B, le petit garçon qui a beaucoup mangé. Ask your child about it and ask them about our other friends that we meet in le village des sons!
Here are a few images from our book Raconte-moi l'alphabet. Ask your child about the story behind the pictures and the sound those letters make in French. After reading the stories in the book, we do a variety of different activities to apply and reinforce the learning that happened. We look for the letters around the class, practice writing the letters, find words with those letters in books, write the letter in the sky and more fun and related activities.
Today, we started reading our French alphabet storybook and each student got their very own alphabet story sticker book! This part was especially exciting! We learned about the little girl named 'a' that lives in 'le village des sons'. She had a toothache and had to go visit the dentist. To find out what sound she helped us learn, you'll have to ask the little learners pictured below ;)
