Friday morning, the kindergarten students started working on their 'All about me' book. The book will detail things they like, they dislike, what they know and what they love. Careful thought is put into each page as they take a moment to reflect before they decide what they would like to draw.

Today, we reviewed the letters A, B, C and D from Raconte-moi l'alphabet and then sorted out words that began with those letters. Students were tasked with choosing words and pasting them on the appropriate paper. Once all the words were sorted and pasted, we reviewed the sheets with the pasted words and made sure they were in the right spot. The students listened very carefully, putting their sense of hearing to the test, as each word was read aloud. We spotted a few mistakes and corrected them! Good job everyone!
Tuning in and using our sense of taste to figure out what we were eating turned out to be a really funny activity. Silence filled the room as the blindfolded child tasted the mystery food, everyone looked on in excitement and anticipation! Throughout the activity, students had the task of filling a chart to show whether they liked or disliked the food they tasted and I filled out a larger chart to record how many guesses students got right or wrong. We were risk takers, we were brave and we were enthusiastic during this activity!
After we develop unit-related questions, we brainstorm ideas for ways in which we can find answers and ways we can learn about the topic. We also further discuss the questions throughout the unit in case we have more that come up! Our brainstorms and discussions encourage sharing our ideas and curiosities, building on each other's ideas and eventually deciding as a group on various activities we can do to find answers and learn about the topic at hand!
Some of the questions students had at the beginning of the unit were about our physical selves, especially the brain. This was great as it can be linked to the 5 senses. Other questions were 'how are we different from others' and 'what is a characteristic'. As the facilitator of discussions, I help build on each student's ideas, make suggestions and pose questions of my own. Today, we came up with a few ideas to help us find the answers to our questions and further explore the unit topic. The students decided that we should:
