A short, impromptu activity about measurement. Each student had a partner and had to measure their partners feet using foam cubes from our math center. We recorded our results on the chalk board and looked at who had the biggest and smallest feet and whose feet measured the same. Mine were the biggest, we found out ;)

On Friday, all the students of Acadecap enjoyed a morning of learning about the dunes, the species and plants that live there and helped with the restoration process. A little presentation about reptiles too! Thank you Biodiversity Conservancy International for your time and expertise! We look forward to coming back! The students had an amazing experience and actually, so did I ;) Ask your child all about it and what their favourite part of the day was! This video includes some clips and pictures of the Junior Kindergarten to Grade 3 students! Enjoy!
Today, we started reading our French alphabet storybook and each student got their very own alphabet story sticker book! This part was especially exciting! We learned about the little girl named 'a' that lives in 'le village des sons'. She had a toothache and had to go visit the dentist. To find out what sound she helped us learn, you'll have to ask the little learners pictured below ;)
Last week, we did our first entry in our journals. Our journals will be used as a free-expression and free-writing tool where students will have the opportunity to reflect and illustrate their thoughts and ideas. As we begin, I will act as a scribe but with time, students will develop the skills to write letters, words, sentences to describe their illustration. The 'free' part of our journal writing is to encourage students to write about what is important to them, the writing process is much more likely to be meaningful and thus the learning becomes more productive in terms of language development.
Here, students are displaying their 'Mes amis' pictures done on the first day of school. Having them put up their own work made them feel proud of what they did. It also made it more meaningful as they were part of the displaying process in their classroom.
