The kindergarten students started the year with the Grade 3/4 students as reading buddies but considering the class size difference, Mme Sadjia and I have decided that her emergent readers and expert French speakers would be a perfect match for the kindergarten reading buddy partners. After reading for 20 minutes, we end with some great French songs. A perfect way to finish our Thursday school day! As you see from the pictures below, all the students were really engaged in their books and enjoying their reading buddy time ☺

There is no way I can let fall pass without collecting leaves! With our leaves, we set up a little science corner with magnifying glasses, a tree/leaf identification book and paper and pencils for leaf illustrations. We learned a short little song about fall, the leaves played an important role. We discussed the characteristics of fall leaves. What else will we do with our leaves!? Stay tuned and find out!

Bingo daubers have more than one purpose as far as I'm concerned! While they are supposed to be used for bingo, we use them for math. Some concepts include one-to-one correspondence, counting and addition. They could, of course, be used for many other fun activities, especially art related. Below are pictures of the start of our number books. We made dots on a page, counted them and then wrote down the number of dots. Over the last week, we came up with some interview questions with regard to friends and friendship that we would ask to the MYP students at our school. We wanted to get their perspective on some of the things we have been discussing in class and wanted to learn more about what being a friend means to them. This morning, we invited them to our class and, in two groups, asked them the interview questions we came up with. They had some great answers, some that reinforced what we had previously discussed and some that gave us more insight on what it means to be friends. Thanks to Mme Angélina for allowing us to have some of her class time and thanks to the students for sharing their thoughts and knowledge with us!
